Light technician
Light technicians position and control lighting equipment for film, television or video productions or stage performances.
Day-to-day
- Position equipment, such as spotlights, floodlights and cables, and operate lights during filming, broadcasting and stage performances
- Interpret a lighting designer’s plan
- Plan where to run cables and place lights
- Help to rig up the lighting equipment
- Program consoles and load automated colour change systems
- Take cues from the stage manage or floor manager
- Operate manual and computer-controlled lighting systems
