Visitor information officers provide travel and accommodation information to tourists, promote tourism and assess tourism opportunities for interesting places.
Day-to-day
- Answer questions from tourists and offer suggestions about tours, travel routes, accommodation and local customs
- Provide literature and information on local and interstate tours and places of interest
- Discuss transport availability and cost
- Sell souvenirs and other merchandise
- Assist travel agents and tour operators in preparing itineraries for tourists
- Be responsible for overall presentation of the information centre
