Kitchenhands help kitchen and service staff in commercial eating venues such as cafes or restaurants. They help with food preparation and make sure everything is clean and sanitised.
Day-to-day
- Clean kitchens and food preparation areas
- Clean cooking and general utensils used in kitchens and restaurants such as cutlery or dishes
- Wash, peel and chop vegetables or fruit
- Transfer, weigh and check supplies and equipment
- Prepare ingredients for cooking, and prepare salads, savouries and sandwiches
- Set up food and beverage trays for serving to customers
- Cook, toast and heat food items as needed
- Make sure kitchen area is clean and meets hygiene standards
